CHINESE OPERA PORTRAITS | NEW YORK, NY PHOTOGRAPHER

Recently, I’d been given the opportunity to photograph a Cantonese Opera performance in the Lower East side of Manhattan, (where else but Chinatown) and go backstage.  I loved it, because I felt like a VIP (Very Important Photog) or something, running around and capturing just how everything unfolds…  You wouldn’t believe the time and effort it takes to achieve the look of the final product!  I’m splitting this event into two posts, this one as a replacement for my typical sneak peek.  Many of the actors requested some portrait shots, so they’re the subject matter for this post.  Lighting setup was typically my 580EXII speedlite bounced into a 45″ Westcott umbrella, and my lovely assistant holding up a reflector.  Tomorrow, I’ll post the behind-the-scenes action of how they got to this point, as well as some performance shots!
