One of the first couples to book me two years in advance, Raquel and Danny had a specific plan in mind- To give their guests an epic wedding experience they’ll never forget. And by extension, I had the incredible pleasure of documenting it! If you’ve been following my work for a while, you may recall this ridiculously good-looking couple from their High Line engagement session early last year (which was featured on Something Turquoise). Well their big day has finally arrived, with Raquel getting ready at the Meadowlands Sheraton in East Rutherford, New Jersey, while Danny prepped at his parents’ home (Thanks, Haris for lending your talents once again and second shooting for me!). Their ceremony took place at the beautiful Our Lady of Fatima church in Newark, NJ, and reception at one of my now, favorite venues, Nanina’s in the Park in Belleville, NJ. Without question, this was one of the longest weddings I’ve worked, but definitely one of my favorite! Not only was it the first time I’ve ever done a “First Non-Look” (where the bride and groom don’t see each other before the ceremony, but get dangerously close), but also the first time I’ve been able to witness a traditional Portuguese folk dance! Just an amazing day overall, and I’m so honored to have the fortune of being a part of it. Thank you for giving me the chance to be a part of it, Raquel and Danny, and I hope you enjoy the images as much as I enjoyed photographing your New Jersey wedding!

MANHATTAN NY PHOTOGRAPHER | ROOSEVELT ISLAND ENGAGEMENT SESSION | MARIA + JASON

First Brooklyn, and now Roosevelt Island. Have I already told you how much I love photographing in New York City? There are just so many amazing options when it comes to foreground and backdrops. But of course, none of that makes any difference when it comes to engagement photography without a couple in love! And you’ll be hard-pressed to find two people that fit that description sweeter than Maria and Jason. I have to confess, I didn’t have to do much to get this gorgeous couple to look their best. Roosevelt Island had some sentimental value to them, as their relationship started literally when Jason had first moved to NY from the west coast. I personally find that it’s awesome watching people get nostalgic.. especially in a place they’re comfortable. The photos simply come naturally. Can’t wait to shoot your wedding in July! BROOKLYN NY PHOTOGRAPHER | BROOKLYN BRIDGE ENGAGEMENT SESSION | MIQUELA + FELIX

There’s something to be said, when a couple is just so unquestionably natural in front of the camera. In all seriousness, I cannot remember an easier time when it comes to photography direction than Miquela and Felix’s engagement session at Brooklyn Bridge Park and DUMBO in NYC. I live for photographing couples like these two lovebirds, whose perfect chemistry just shined in front of any and all of the lens I used. Combine that with the most ambitious bokeh panorama I’ve done so far (with 38 stitched images) and my super-wife Chi-Chi as assistant/Joel-sitter, and you get one fantastic day. Truthfully, with the entirety of the week drenched in rain, we were originally worried we would have to reschedule, but fortunately the clouds finally let up Friday, and we were able to capture some incredible skies during the session with the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, and incomparable Manhattan skyline gracing the background! Can’t wait to photograph your wedding later this year!

NORTH HALEDON, NJ WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | TIDES ESTATE WEDDING | NATALIA + MATT

Natalia and Matt’s wedding was particularly fun to photograph for me. I mean, how often do you get to revisit the venue where you got married? That’s right… they got married at the Tides Estate (with portraits in Jersey City), where Chi-Chi and I had our wedding reception. And can I just say, that venue is still awesome even as a wedding photographer. The grounds, staff, and food are still top notch, and one of my favorite places in which to photograph weddings in New Jersey, and I’ve seen a lot of places ;-) Funny enough, they even had their engagement at Lambert Castle, where Chi and I had our wedding day portraits taken, lol. Meant to be, or what? Add to the mix a ton of incredibly fun-loving wedding guests, the funniest garter toss I’ve ever witnessed, and a pinch of nostalgia, and this night turned out pretty darn good. Thanks, Yanshu, for the opportunity to reminisce, and taking me along to shoot yet another beautiful NJ wedding!

WASHINGTON DC PHOTOGRAPHER | TIDAL BASIN ENGAGEMENT SESSION | SHAMEKA + CHARLEMAYNE

Every year, thousands flock to Washington DC to view the spectacular display of Cherry Blossom Trees in April, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful time and location in the spring than this. Though a large passing storm had knocked the petals off many of the trees the day before, nothing could stop Shameka and Charlemayne from the widest smiles and cutest looks at each other, making for better photos than any flower could ever produce. Two of the most fun and down-to-earth lawyers you’ll ever meet, I felt like I could’ve spent several more hours getting to know them better! Some memories flooded back to me, since I had proposed to Chi-Chi (who was gracious enough to assist me along with Joel on the day) amidst Sakura as well, adding to what was just an awesome day with the gorgeous couple, as the sun had set perfectly over the Tidal Basin, and we were able to spend some quality time around some of our nation’s incredible (and at times, under-appreciated) monuments. I absolutely cannot wait to capture your wedding at the elegant Ronald Reagan Building in October!

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NY PHOTOGRAPHER | GABE’S NEWBORN SESSION

How cute can cute get? I’ve got the idea that it starts around Gabe. Then I guess, with his two gorgeous parents, (Lisa and Brian, whose Poughkeepsie wedding I’ll be photographer for at the Grandview!) that’s not the hardest task. ;-) This adorable tyke was just over a month old when we took this session in late March and just pulls the best faces ever. The pictures were captured at Brian’s parents’ gorgeous home in Dutchess County and with all the natural light streaming in from so many locations, it wasn’t difficult getting many “awww” shots. I especially loved the personal touches, such as Gabe’s knit aviator cap, complete with fold-down sunglasses (Brian is a pilot!) and using Brian’s helmet as a prop. Can’t wait to shoot the wedding later this August! And, of course, see how much Gabe has grown even cuter!

GLEN RIDGE, NJ WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | GLEN RIDGE WOMEN’S CLUB WEDDING | LORI + DANNY

Can I just say how much I adore intercultural weddings? The bond between Lori and Danny was palpable, and this Filipino/Latino wedding was just so much fun in every way. And such talented guests! I had such an incredible time capturing their tremendous band made up of strictly friends and family. Both bride and groom started their big day at the Marriott Courtyard in West Orange, NJ, and had their beautiful ceremony and reception at the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge, NJ (with some pretty amazing DJing provided by Lifetime Entertainment). We had a portrait session at the nearby train station which was pretty darn awesome as well. Thanks so much to the amazing Carolina Rivera for bringing me along to shoot this amazing NJ wedding!—

Bridal preparation at an on-site spa. Groom preparation photos in a room with a tree trunk in the middle of it. Maserati. All of the above please! Last year, I had the wonderful chance to shoot with Inku, one of my favorite wedding photographers at one of the most unique wedding venues in Connecticut- The Winvian. Needless to say, I took it, wholeheartedly. This day was made even better with two lovebirds that couldn’t help but stare at each other the whole night. Hope you guys enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

CEDAR GROVE, NJ WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | THE GROVE WEDDING | DIANA + GIOVANNI

Talk about decadent. Photographing Diana and Giovanni’s Northern NJ wedding at “The Grove” was just pure joy. I do believe, if there are new wedding photographers out there who haven’t shot an Italian wedding, you guys need to do it. Now. It was just such an amazingly fun atmosphere, and Diana (already a gorgeous bride as-is) wore one of the most ravishing dresses I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. That, in addition to a truly stunning venue in the Grove, preceded by a beautiful ceremony at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Clifton, NJ, and, of course, some crazy-awesome chemistry between the couple, equated to a perfect day. Oh, and by the way, that Viennese hour? I’m drooling, just reminiscing about it. Thanks so much to Gabriela Fuentes of Wedding Central for bringing me along to shoot this amazing wedding!
