Lydia and Yarema were a fantastic introduction to my very first time photographing a traditional Ukrainian wedding, and what a wedding it turned out to be! Though the forecast was a bit foreboding, with rain forecast later in the day, it didn’t hit ’til the evening, allowing for some fantastic clouds without the wet stuff! The day started with the “getting ready” portion at Lydia’s parents’ beautiful secluded home in Jewett, NY, where we also had a blessing ceremony, and moved onto one of the most architecturally beautiful small churches I’ve ever seen, St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hunter, NY. If you only have time to view just a few photos, make sure at least some of them are of the gorgeous ceremony portion of this post! After the ceremony, we traveled to the Minnewaska State Park Preserve for portraits of this fun-loving couple with some dramatic natural backdrops. The evening festivities concluded at Soyuzivka, a Ukrainian community center in Kerhonkson, NY, really the perfect place to end a night of hilarious speeches, great dancing, and awesome food! Thanks to Haris for second-shooting yet another amazing wedding with me, and of course, thanks so much to Lydia and Yarema for allowing me the chance to photograph your big day, and enjoy the wedding photos!
