It’s been my pleasure to have known some amazing people in my lifetime. I first met Jessie during some combined church events (CUMC and FCPC) many, many, years ago, and it’s an honor to say that I’ve also shot her headshot for a prestigious distinction! Jessie, managing director of non-profit Renaissance EDC, has received an award for her dedication to serving New York City’s small business landscape, especially in my beloved, yet critically under-served, area of NYC’s Chinatown! It’s women like her, who are a light in the darkness for an economic area that’s been notoriously been overlooked for quite a few years, especially since the pandemic. Having had the opportunity to photograph their anniversary event last year as well, I can say with certainty, that the work their doing is as important, as it is life-giving to a community that’s dealt with such hard times in recent years.
